Fitting an eBay short shifter

The short shifter was really just an excuse to empty my $50 leftover from my PayPal account.
As the MX-5 has some of the best gear shifter on any car in the world I’m actually quite skeptical to replace it with one that has an even shorter throw.
The OEM shifter works great on the track and I have no problems with the gearchange taking too long.

I replaced both rubber boots last year so no need to replace those.

A comparison between the two. The shiny one is the new stuff.
<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="width: 1%px;"> <tbody><tr> <td align="center"></td> </tr></tbody></table>No problems fitting it after I understood that I had to reuse one of the nylon “bearings” which was submerged in the turret oil.
The shorter throw is really noticable. I’m now able to shift with the wrist with almost no movement of the elbow.
I won’t know for sure if this is a good ide before I get the car back on the road.
